Chuck Jones

Jones, Chuck

"Highly Recommended. This is rare and wonderful opportunity to remember Chuck Jones, the talented artist behind those world famous cartoons." -National Media Review
Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) was one of America's greatest animators; he made over 300 animated films, was nominated for eight Oscars and won three as a director; plus he received an honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement in 1966. He will be forever remembered for the famous cast of animated characters he created for Warner Brothers' Studios, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig, as well as those he created himself, including Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin Martian, Pepe le Pew, and Michigan J. Frog. He too gained worldwide fame as the producer, director and writer of the television classic, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and the feature-length film, The Phantom Tollbooth. Beyond his creativity and talent was a man filled with life and spirit, who loved his work and inspired optimism in others. In this classic program, we get to meet Chuck in an up close and personal conversation with K.C. Compton. Here he reflects on his early days of studio work; he shares his thoughts on the lessons he learned about the creative process, explaining how many of his characters came to be; and "that's not all folks," then he delights viewers by taking a moment to give a quick lesson in drawing some of the famous characters on paper.
