Switzerland 1: Lucerne

Switzerland 1: Lucerne

Located at the foot of the Swiss Alps, Lucerne is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Surrounded by mountains, the Reuss River, and Lake Lucerne, this medieval city is a tourist's delight. Its most historical landmark is the Chapel Bridge, a 669-foot long wooden bridge first built in the 14th century. Visitors can stroll in the car-free Old Town, shop in its open-air markets, and tour the Transportation Museum to learn about the history of travel. Another adventure is to take an aerial cable car or cogwheel train ride to Mt. Pilatus to view the city below. Also, a favorite attraction is the Swiss Folklore Show. Visitors can dine on the local cuisine while being entertained by Swiss yodelers, horn blowers, and archers. Audience participation is encouraged! 03/09DE IJSCA 15 min.
