Netherlands 2: Central and Western Holland

Netherlands 2: Central and Western Holland

What better way to tour the Netherlands than to view it by water! Our visit begins with a leisurely cruise on the Vecht River to see the charming villages, countryside, and windmills along its banks. As we meander the river, we also glimpse lovely historic homes, many of which were originally built by wealthy merchants as country houses, and we watch a tulip bulb competition hosted by growers surrounded by beautiful blooms. Next we visit the city of Delft, home to one of the oldest earthenware factories in the world, where Delftware is produced. This blue and white porcelain is known worldwide. Our last stop is the Hague, the seat of government for the Netherlands and home to many international organizations as well. We tour the Binnenhof Museum, which also houses government offices and the Houses of Parliament and learn the political history of the Hague. 04/10DE IJSCA 30 min.
