Asia 1: China and Human Rights 1

This program begins with an exclusive look at Escape From China, secretly filmed inside China by a Chinese journalist with a hidden identity. This documentary shows how leaders of the Tiananmen Square uprising escaped to freedom. Then the late US Senator Daniel Moynihan begins a discussion of the "most-favored nation" policy by speaking of the prison labor in China. A detailed analysis of this controversial policy is discussed by Don Anderson, the former President of the US-China Business Council, John Sasso, an American political strategist, Nancy Pelosi, a US Representative at the time, Robin Munro, from the group Asia-Watch, and Chinese political activist Liu Qing, who also shows his anger towards the human rights issues in his country. 99/12DE JSCA 30 min.
