Guatemala: 7 Wind

"Highly Recommended. Something is captured here: a series of thoroughly haunting images that are clearly not random but have been arranged to cover many arenas of human existence in Guatemala. The camerawork is quite stunning and the non-narrative technique creates a feeling of staring at a culture with innocent, objective eyes, since there is nobody to analyze away deeper meanings." -VRG Review
The Guatemalan Civil War ended in 1996 and since that time the nation has been stable and witnessed successive democratic elections, which has led to a state of continuous development and economic growth. In wanting to present an objective picture of Guatemala, award-winning cinematographer Trevor Long, chose to allow the images from his camera to do the "talking" in this cinematic study of this fascinating Central American country. Here we explore the Peten Rainforest, known as the "Cradle of the Mayan Civilization"; witness a Patron Saint Day; visit La Antigua, the well-preserved formal capital, then the present capital, Guatemala City; also we discover the mountainous beauty of the country in the Guatemalan Highlands area. Produced by Televista West Productions.
