Poetry at the Cafe

Cafes have been centers of literary culture for hundreds of years from the caf├ęs of Europe to the coffeehouses in the U.S., where Beatniks read their unique verse. Today, cafes and clubs are again being used as poetry performance venues. Celebrating this trend, this program uses the cafe approach to introduce viewers to a variety of poets who share poetic styles that range from classic to contemporary. In order of appearance, the performers include: Jimmy Townes and the North Hollywood Trance Band; Kelly Brown and Egyptian Slim; G. Murray Thomas; Kim Conrad; Tim Reynolds; Roland X; Kennon B.
