This program was produced to show the miraculous steps that have been taken in the physical, emotional and social treatment for young burn patients. 4/15-minute parts include: Part 1. Getting to Know Us- Dr. James Betts explains how to deal with two patients, the child and the family; Patti Taggert, PT, explains wound care; and Social Worker Linda Passey helps burned children accept themselves. Part 2. Hard to Believe - The psychological difficulties parents experience in severe burn cases; physical and physiological concerns medical staff have for burn patients; nightmares; and parents discussing their feelings. Part 3. The Pain of Healing - Introduces the "Intermediate Stage" of healing; teaches us about skin, debridement, scarring, and 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-degree burns; also Dr. Marshall Treadwell discusses the issue of coping with pain. Part 4. Back on the Track - This program offers hope for burned children and their parents as we are shown examples of the triumphant human spirit; plus we visit Burn Camp, an event that builds self-esteem among burn children.
