7. Nothing Up My Sleeve (Media Literacy)

07. Nothing Up My Sleeve (Media Literacy)

"Recommended. Akin to an "After-School Special," this program is a useful addition to any discussion on media literacy." -School Library Journal
The kids at Kerrisdale are organizing a school dance to raise money for the student fund, but an explosion destroys the expensive music system and threatens to wipe out the entire fund. The question is raised: who is responsible for what happened? The mystery of who is behind the explosion provides an opportunity to present the issue of media literacy and to explore how many different stories can be fabricated from the same material. It encourages young people to look at the media they read, watch and listen to more closely and to think about how news and other documentary stories are edited. 00/08DE IJS 30 min.
