8. Realities of Predicting Breast Cancer Risk 2

This program features Margaret Lock, Ph.D., Professor of Anthropology at McGill University, who begins her lecture speaking of the best-selling author Stephen J. Gould, who was diagnosed with a deadly form of cancer, called peritoneal mesothelioma, which affects the abdominal lining. Statistically, the average life expectancy for 50% of people with this cancer is only 7- 8 months; this led Gould to publish an article titled "The Median Isn't the Message," in which he concluded that the other 50% could live longer, which he did, making a full recovery. Dr. Lock concludes the series by addressing the realities of genetic testing and predicting breast cancer. 99/07DE SCA 35 min.
