Norway

Norway

Norway is located on the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula in northern Europe and shares a border to the east with Sweden. We travel to Lillehammer, famous for having hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics, and meet 11-year-old Kristin Floberghagen and 12-year-old Bjarte Kofoed-Larsen. After viewing a portion of the Olympics Opening Ceremony the children spend part of the day at Hunderfossen Family Park, which features attractions based on Norwegian culture and traditions, and home to the world's largest Troll; then they visit the Maihaugen Open-Air Museum, where visitors can step back in time and view life as it was before the Industrial Age. Back at home Kristin plays a Norwegian folk song on the piano and Bjarte practices on his cello. Next we travel to the coast and the city of Bergen where we meet 11-year-old Sigbjorn Sanberg, who likes to collect stuffed animals, bottle caps and comic books; a member of 4-H, he also enjoys gardening. We get a bird's eye view of fjords and glaciers; then visit Oslo, the capital, home of the country's royal family, and also the Viking Ship Museum. 00/08DE PIJ 30 min.
