06. Last Night I Saw a Purple Wallipaw

Too often young children are afraid of monsters, especially in the evening before bedtime. This can be a difficult thing for many parents. Even educators and librarians experience difficulties for children when dealing with what is the usually scary world of monsters. This animated program, based on the poem Last Night I Saw a Purple Wallipaw by Carole Mullen, lets children know that not all monsters are scary. In fact, some can be a whole lot of fun! What makes this program even more effective is that children are asked to watch closely because there is a "Monster Quiz" game that follows. After the poem is read children are asked A & B choice questions to identify which monster did what. Even if they don’t get all the questions correct, don’t worry; they’ll want to watch the program again and again until they do! Produced by Chip Taylor. 07/10DE Closed-Captioned PI 15 min.
