Gentle Guidance for Clinicians

Gentle Guidance for Clinicians

A clinician is defined as a health professional, such as a physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or nurse, who is involved in clinical practice and usually practices at a clinic; nurse practitioners and physician assistants are also considered clinicians. Caring for people, although it has immeasurable rewards, also comes with a certain amount of stress. Obviously, events such as the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, caused unimaginable stress; however, even on any given day, traumatic situations can upset and distress even the most expert of professional caregivers. This program offers gentle guidance for clinicians facing constant stressful situations; it presents five expert clinicians, Frank Putnam, M.D., Anne C. Pratt, Ph.D., Richard Mollica, M.D., Daniel J. Abrahamson, Ph.D., and Laurie Ann Pearlman, Ph.D., who address trauma training and the path to healing, focusing on "R.I.C.H." relationships: Respect; Information; Connection; Hope. The goal is clear: if people can work toward relationships that include these four elements, there is great hope for healing.ation; Connection; Hope. If people can work toward relationships that include these four elements, there is great hope for healing. Produced by Robert Parish. 07/09DE SCA 30 min.
