The birthplace of the American Gold Rush, San Francisco has always stood for tolerance and open minds; its population is multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, colorful and diverse. It also stands for new social and cultural movements, for it was here that xxbLevixxb jeans were created, Beat Generation poets (xxbJack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghettixxb) met; the hippie movement was born; gay and lesbian communities were freely accepted and grew, and innumerable technologies businesses have been started. To put it simply, it is a city where all are free to be whoever they are and free to make their dreams come true. 05/08DE IJSCA 30 min.
