Anxiety and Fear

Anxiety and Fear

Avy Joseph, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, guides us through this program that looks at the most common psychological disorder in children and teens today, anxiety. Here we learn that anxiety and fear are feelings and emotions we may have in response to danger, either real or perceived, and that anxiety is a part of our natural development. When a child or teen feels anxiety or fear, what's happening is they are learning to expand their comfort zone, preparing for life later on. In cases of extreme or sustained anxiety, the brain can respond with dramatic physical reactions. In Part 1, we meet teenager, Mary Issitt, and her mother, Judy, who discuss Mary's actual loss of vision due to school bullying. Linda Porter, a Remedy Therapist, explains the (Edward) Bach flower remedy system, and other therapies that helped Mary regain her sight. In Part 2, Shelley Zie discusses her young son Billy's panic attacks. Oran Kivity, who practices Japanese Acupuncture, uses non-insertive needle techniques on both the boy and his mother with successful results. In Part 3, we meet Diane Moore and her teenage son, Richard, who suffered with stuttering until he received help from Lynda Hudson, a Clinical Hypnotherapist. 05/09DE CA 30 min.
