16. The Stars and History: Lost in the Stars

Alex's (Stephen Joffe's) science teacher has told the class something big would happen in the sky tonight. As Alex checks out the stars through his telescope, Timeblazers Sam (Mike Ackerman) and Jen (Heidi Leigh) show up to tell him a story that's as old as the sky, and that how people looked at the stars literally affected the course of history. Here we see that different cultures had their own constellations; next we learn about Greek mythology and of Perseus and the Minotaur, which was half-man, half-bull; then of Halley's Comet and the prediction of the Norman Conquest of Britain in 1066; next the invention of the telescope and Galileo; then of Captain William Bligh, who navigated by the stars, and was best known for the famous mutiny that occurred against his command aboard the HMAV (His Majesty's Armed Vessel) Bounty. 05/10DE IJ 30 min.
