30. Amazing Women - Cleopatra, Elizabeth I, Mary Shelley

Timeblazers Jen (Heidi Leigh) and Sam (Mike Ackerman) travel back in time with Alex (Stephen Joffe) to let him meet some key women who played important roles in history. First, they meet Cleopatra, who in 48 BC conspired with Rome's Julius Caesar to become the most powerful woman in Egypt by taking over the throne from her younger brother, Ptolemy. Next they travel to England in 1555 to meet Elizabeth 1, the daughter of Henry VIII, a woman of determination and conviction, who took on the powerful Spanish Armada and won; also the Elizabethan era is known as a time of amazing artistic, scientific, and philosophical growth for England. Then in the early 1800s we meet Mary Shelley, whose mother and father, as well as her husband, the poet Percy Shelley, encouraged her to write, and at age eighteen she wrote the famous book Frankenstein, which, because of its great success and critical acclaim, opened the door for more women to become writers. 05/10DE Closed-Captioned IJ 30 min.
