Hands On Crafts for Kids 12: Living Things (cc)

The focus of this series is "living things." We learn about animals and plants that share our environment while creating great projects, which have been divided into the same classifications used by scientists. 12. Plants - True Plants: Fruits and Vegetables (cc)

12. Plants - True Plants: Fruits and Vegetables (cc)

This program focuses on another common way we see plants everyday - fruits and vegetables. Fruits are a part of the plant and the way that flowering plants spread seeds for new plants. Vegetables are actual parts of the plants - they can be the stem or stalk like celery, the leaves like lettuce, roots like carrots or the bulb like an onion. First, we have a new use for old t-shirts: learn how to transform them into aprons with a real fruit stamp. Then corn turns into a paintbrush for creating a frame. Next, we create jewelry using clay beads that mimic orange slices. Last, we create an overhead look at a farm or garden using beans and seeds. 2010/CC Closed-Captioned PIA 30 min.
