McGreevy, Jack (Marine Veteran: WWII and the Korean War)

Jack McGreevy, following in the footsteps of his brother, James, a decorated Marine who died at 19 in 1945 in the Battle of Iwo Jima, was a veteran who served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He too is the father of New Jersey's former governor James E. McGreevy, who enlisted his father to head the New Jersey World War II Commission, which established the New Jersey World War II Memorial, a lasting tribute to the over 560,000 men and women from New Jersey who served their country during WWII. In this program host Esther Mills visits this patriotic member of "The Greatest Generation," who discusses why in his elderly years he took on such a challenge and explains its importance to the state. 2010 SCA 30 min.
