Living Lightly

Best Family Film -Director's Choice Awards
Audience Award -Earthdance Film Festival

"Highly Recommended! A magical glimpse at a family that lives with the land; where Cassis Birgit Staudt's music takes the dancing rhythms of their scythes and works with them to produce art." -National Media Review
This multi-award winning documentary shares the story of a 21st century family, the Vidos, who have embraced living with the land, leading a self-sufficient existence on their farm in New Brunswick, Canada. We meet Peter, his wife Faye, and their three children, Ashley, Kai and Fairlight, who practice the concept of "living lightly," as well as the ancient craft of scything as a form of meditation in action. Sensitive filmmaking and a rhythmic musical score combine to reveal a family passionate about their lifestyle, and whose love is rooted in their working together daily. Produced by Robin Burke. 2011 JSCA 30 min. 16:9
