Angelina Jolie: Skin Deep

Jolie, Angelina: Skin Deep

Angelina Jolie has already lived a life that few could rival. She is the third actress in history to earn $20 million for a film, but winning accolades does not fuel her true mission in life. She is driven by a commitment to help those less fortunate, and this quest runs skin deep in this remarkable woman. Angelina became aware of worldwide humanitarian crises while filming Tomb Raider in poverty stricken Cambodia. Deeply affected by what she saw, Jolie then turned to the United Nations' High Commissioner for Refugees and became a Goodwill Ambassador for them in 2002. In 2005, she made her third visit to Pakistan to help victims of the Kashmir earthquake, and the devastation had a profound effect on Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt. Since that trip, Angelina and Brad have used their global profiles to generate support for causes that don't appear in the mainstream media. They set up the Jolie-Pitt Foundation and have cleverly used the public's interest in their lives to help their causes, but the real challenge for the two is finding a balance between their careers and their family of three adopted and three natural children. Produced by Switch International. 2013 JSCA 60 min.
